Brendan G. Carr, MD, MA, MS is residency trained and board certified in emergency medicine, and fellowship trained in trauma & surgical critical care. Dr. Carr serves as Senior Advisor to the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Preparedness & Response and the Director of the Emergency Care Coordination Center (ECCC) in the US Department of Health & Human Services. His academic career has focused on improving access to emergency care. His research has been funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, & the National Institutes of Health. He has authored more than 100 scientific papers and has lectured internationally on emergency care systems. His portfolio at HHS focuses on increasing the engagement of the US healthcare system in the responding to disasters and public health emergencies.
