Dr. Carolyn Turvey is a clinical psychologist who has conducted both clinical care and research in the application of telemedicine in mental health. She is currently the Clinical Chair of the Office of Rural Health Resource Center- Iowa City as well as a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa. Dr. Turvey has specific expertise in the use of telemedicine for home bound elders, patient portals and patient-facing eHealth technologies, and use of eHealth to support illness management and behavioral activation in depression. Dr. Turvey has received research funding from NIH, AHRQ, and the Department of Veterans Affairs to evaluate these new applications of telemedicine. She is a past chair of the American Telemedicine Association Telemental Health Special Interest Group.
